a.     We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. We do collect your personal information and process your personal data in accordance with the Information Technology Act 2000(21 of 2000) and other central and state laws which relate to the processing of personal data. Please read the following carefully to understand our views practises regarding your personal data.

b.    Downloading, accessing, or otherwise using the App indicates that you have read this Privacy Policy and consent to its terms. If you do not consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy, do not proceed to download, access or otherwise use the App.

c.     Our Privacy Policy is subject to change at any time without any notice. To make sure you are aware of any changes, please review this policy periodically. The last updated dated can be found at the beginning of this policy.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national level board of education under governance of Department of School Education (DoSEL), Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI), with a mission to promote excellence in education for students belonging to K-12. We understand that the privacy and protection of data of our users is of utmost importance and shall be ensured at all times. This Privacy Policy shall cover details of data protection and management, including how personal data of users is managed, used and processed. Users are individuals who access and use our apps and broadly comprise (i) users who access and use the app without registering themselves (ii) users who access and use the app after registering themselves (iii) users who are registered and are authorised to be administrators.

By accessing and using the app, and by providing your information to us, you consent to the collection and use of the information you disclose by us in accordance with our policies and guidelines as applicable from time to time, including the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the contents of this policy, please do not access or use the app.

  2. Responsibilities of CBSE with respect to User data and information
    1. To respect the privacy and data protection rights of Users
    2. To ensure the security of and use of data (especially any personal information) shared by Users solely for the  purposes mentioned herein.
    3. To be responsible for any use of data for purposes other than for which it was intended to be used and liable for such actions and for any loss or damage caused due to failure of CBSE to comply with it’s obligation.
    4. To ensure their communication (if any) with Users is explicitly limited and relevant to the purpose of their usage of app
  3. What User data and information is collected?
    1. All Users can expect the following data and information of theirs to be collected on our app:
      1. Basic Information: User Type (e.g., teacher, student, other)
      2. Geographical Information: GIS location
      3. Preferences:  Classes, Subjects of interest
      4. App data: Content created/ contributed / published; certificates issued.
      5. IP Address: The IP address of a User is collected for specific purposes only
      1. Name(for specific purposes only)
      2. Date of Birth (for specific purposes only)
      3. Image (for specific purposes only)
      4. Email Address / Mobile number (for specific purposes only) and
      5. App Password (for specific purposes only)
    1. When you visit our App, some information is automatically collected which may include information such as the type of device, Operating System (OS) running on your device, unique user ID, access time, language etc. We also collect information about how you use our products or services..
    2. The information about your usage of the App, including crash logs, and usage statistics.
    3. We will retain your information as long as we require to provide you with the benefits and for such period as mandated by the laws concerned.
    4. You represent to us that the data and information you provide from time to time is and shall be correct, current and updated and you have all the rights, permissions and consents to provide such data and information. Your providing the information or data and the consequent storage, collection, usage, access or processing of the same in accordance with the  Privacy Policy shall not be in violation of any third party agreement, laws, charter documents, judgments, orders and decrees.
  1. How is User data and information collected?
    1. Basic Information, Geographical Information and Preferences are collected when a User accesses and uses the app.
    2. App data of Users is collected as and when a User uploads content and certificates are issued
    3. The additional information provided by Users, namely, (i) Name (ii) Date of Birth (iii) Email Address / Mobile Number (iii) Password, is collected when a User becomes a Registered User. These information of Registered Users is collected for specific purposes only, with their explicit consent when they choose to provide the same on our app or otherwise
    4. We collect information using "Cookies”, post your consent only which are small data files stored on your device that help us to improve our App and your experience.
  2. Who has access to User data and information?

We do not share your personal data with third parties without your consent, other than:

    1. Employees, contractors or subcontractors of the CBSE who work on behalf of CBSE to provide necessary services and are  (under strict confidentiality obligations in terms of the provisions of Information Technology Act, 2000 and any other applicable legislation as well as in terms of written agreement executed with CBSE in this regard.
    2. To comply with any statutory provision or to respond to any lawful requests and legal processes, to enforce or apply our terms and conditions of use, to protect the right, property  or safety of us, our users, our agents or others including to enforce our agreements, policies and terms of use.
    3. For the purposes of verification of identity, for prevention, detection or investigation of cyber incidents, prosecution and punishment of offences
  1. What is User data and information used for?
    1. CBSE processes your data and information wherever necessary for providing legitimate access to services offered by it for educational purposes, including  for running of programs by CBSE. In addition,  your data may be used for following purposes as set out below:
      1. To enable you to participate in programs run by CBSE
      2. To generate certificates to you upon completion of milestones;
      3. To maintain records of your certificates
      4. To assess, evaluate, validate Content submitted / posted / uploaded by Users;
      5. For any other use which would be informed to you at the time of collection.
    1. If CBSE wishes to use your data and information for a purpose, not covered by this Privacy Policy, then CBSE would  issue  a fresh notice or revise/update its  Privacy Policy explaining the fresh/renewed  use prior to utilizing  your data  for the said purpose. Where and whenever necessary, CBSE will seek your prior consent to the new processing, unless authorized by law.
    2. In any event, your data will not be used for any of the following purposes:
      1. Rent or sale or other commercial purposes;
      2. Advertising or marketing;
      3. Phone calls or other forms of unsolicited communication that is not related to your usage of app
      4. Building a personal profile, other than for educational purposes
      5. Any purpose that is not disclosed in this policy

    2. As a User, you understand, agree and acknowledge that the collection, storage and processing of your information or data is for a lawful purpose connected with a function or activity of CBSE. You further understand, agree and acknowledge that your information or data which is classified as personal information as per applicable laws is considered necessary for us to provide various services on and in relation to CBSE to you.

7.    How is User data and information stored?

    1. Reasonable and appropriate security practices and procedures are being adopted to secure your personal data and information in accordance with Indian laws currently in force, including the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. These measures include administrative, physical security, and technical controls in order to safeguard your personal data and information.
    2. Your data, including your declared information, any personally identifiable information or sensitive personal data or information is securely stored. Your data and information will primarily be stored in electronic form however certain data may also be stored in physical form.
    3. Additionally, a variety of methods such as network and infrastructure security, encryption and manual security procedures are used to secure your information and data against loss or damage and to help protect the accuracy and security of your personal information / general information / usage data and to prevent unauthorized access or improper use.     4. Although CBSE strives to protect your personal information and data, it cannot guarantee the security of your data while it is being transmitted to the App; any transmission is at your own risk. Once your information has been received, reasonable procedures and security features are in place to reasonably endeavor to prevent unauthorized access in accordance with Indian law.

8.    DATA SECURITY

a.     We take reasonable steps to help protect your personal information in an effort to prevent the loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction of your data. At the same time, it is your responsibility to protect your user names and passwords to help prevent anyone from accessing or abusing your accounts and services.

b.     it is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and your devices, and applications. Be sure to sign off when you finish using a non-personal device.

c.     The information you provide to us is shared on our secure servers. We have implemented appropriate physical, technical and organizational measures designed secure your information against accidental loss and unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. In addition, we limit access to personal data to those employees, agents, contractors, and other third parties that have a legitimate business need for such access.

9.    How long is User data and information stored?

    1. Your data will not be retained for a period more than necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law or for directly related legitimate purposes.
  1. What are the system permissions required by us?
    1. Microphone - Your system Microphone will be used if voice recording is explicitly requested as part of a Content for the purposes of practice. Your system Microphone will be used if a User creating Content wants to add a voice recording to Content. This voice recording will become part of the Content.
    2. Camera - Your system Camera will only be used to capture your image, based on specific requirements.
    3. Access to file manager / files - This is used by the android / iOS applications (as may be applicable) to transfer Content to an external storage space.
    4. Location – Your GIS location will be captured (as may be applicable).
  2. Deleting your information
    1. If you wish to have the information or data that you have provided deleted, you can always do so by sending an email request to hqitsupport@cbse.gov.in. You may note that deletion of certain information or data may lead to cancellation of your registration with CBSE and your access to certain services of CBSE. You also agree and acknowledge that certain data or information cannot be deleted or may be prohibited to be deleted as required under any applicable law, law enforcement requests or under any judicial proceedings.
  3. Changes to this Privacy Policy
    1. CBSE reserves the right to modify this privacy statement from time to time , so please review it frequently. If a material change is made to this policy, we will change the “last Updated” date above as well as notify the same by means of a notice on the App. You agree that your continued use of our services, after such changes have been published, to our services will constitute your acceptance of such revised policy.
